Michael E. Hart Jr.
Founder and President
With an early passion for landscaping, Michael E. Hart, Jr. began working in the landscape industry while still in high school.
Michael went to North Carolina State University to increase his knowledge of horticulture, sound design principles and process, nursery and planting standards, and best practices in landscaping. Michael worked at the N.C. State Arboretum under Dr. J. C. Raulston, renowned horticulturalist. He graduated with an advanced B.S. degree in Landscape Architecture and Horticulture in 1992.
Upon graduation, Michael began work as a landscape designer and project manager. At that time, there were few businesses dedicated to offering architectural landscape masonry design and installation. Attuned to customer needs and satisfaction, Michael saw the necessity for such services. Michael started Homescapes, Ltd. with one employee, himself, in 1995.
Michael created a specialized niche in the market for hardscapes with his emphasis on interlocking pavers, now one of the most popular architectural landscape masonry products in both residential and commercial markets.
Homescapes Ltd. has grown to a premier architectural landscape masonry company.
Michael E. Hart Jr. is a long standing and respected member of the Landscape and Hardscape community. He is a on the board of the Interlocking Concrete Pavement Institute Old Dominion Chapter.
Michael is active in the community and civic affairs.
Christie Fargis
Landscape Designer
Landscape Designer Christie Fargis brings a professional design background to Homescapes, Ltd. customers.
Christie has a longtime interest in horticulture and design. She earned her Landscape Design Certificate from The George Washington University. She worked as a Landscape Designer for McHale & McHale Landscape Design, Inc. in Washington, D.C. before coming to Richmond and joining Homescapes, Ltd.
Christie is a Virginia Certified Landscape Designer and a member of the Virginia Society of Landscape Designers.

Our three foremen – John Lynch, Cirillo Serrano, and Jason Creamer – have a combined 40 years of experience in the landscape and hardscape industry.
